On Friday, August 15, Putin is expected to arrive in Alaska for negotiations concerning the future of Ukraine. On the eve of his visit, August 14, a protest titled “PUTIN = WAR, DEATH, LIES” was held, organized by Russian opposition activists from Voice of Free Russia living in the United States. The purpose of the rally was to express their position and draw attention to the responsibility of the Russian leadership for the war.
Protesters stated that they wanted to remind all parties involved in the negotiations of the political and moral cost of any decisions made regarding Ukraine. Chants and signs at the rally included: Putin is a war criminal. Putin is a killer. Putin to The Hague. Justice for Ukraine. Free all Kremlin captives.
For many participants, the protest was not only a political statement but also a deeply personal act. These are Russians who left their country but still believe it is important to speak openly about the war, repression, and the future of Ukraine. The very name of the protest — PUTIN = WAR, DEATH, LIES — reflects a direct and uncompromising message aimed at the American public, policymakers, and participants in the upcoming negotiations.
According to the organizers, around fifty people took part in the protest. The rally was covered by FOX 32.

В пятницу, 15 августа, Путин должен прибыть на Аляску для участия в переговорах о судьбе Украины. Накануне визита, 14 августа, прошел митинг PUTIN = WAR, DEATH, LIES, организованный российскими оппозиционерами из Voice of Free Russia, живущими в Америке. Цель акции — выразить свою позицию и привлечь внимание к ответственности российского руководства за войну.
Участники протеста заявили, что хотят напомнить всем сторонам переговорного процесса о политической и моральной цене любых решений, принимаемых по Украине. На митинге звучали лозунги: Putin is a war criminal, Putin is a killer, Putin to the Hague, Justice for Ukraine, Free all Kremlin’s captivities.
Для многих участников эта акция стала не только политическим высказыванием, но и личным жестом. Это россияне, покинувшие страну, но по-прежнему считающие важным открыто говорить о войне, репрессиях и судьбе Украины. Само название протеста — PUTIN = WAR, DEATH, LIES — отражает предельно жесткую и недвусмысленную оценку, с которой организаторы обращаются к американской публике, политикам и участникам будущих переговоров.
По данным организаторов, в акции участвовали около полусотни человек. Митинг освещал телеканал FOX 32.
