ABOUT VOICE OF FREE RUSSIA CHICAGO
WHO WE ARE?
A group of like-minded people from Russia who united on the basis of three ideas:
1. Against the war in Ukraine
2. Against Putin’s Regime
3. For Democratic Values
We organize events in support of Ukraine, political prisoners and victims of Putin’s regime. We tend to prefer street rallies and protests. They allow us to express our feelings about what’s happening in our homeland, get to know new supporters and share our views with all Chicago residents. At a time when protesting in Russia has never been more dangerous, it is imperative for those of us who can protest safely abroad to speak out for those who can’t.
HOW DID WE START?
Our Russian-speaking community began to take shape in 2021, when actions were held around the world in support of Alexei Navalny. Significant development of the community took place after the start of the war in Ukraine, when it became impossible to remain silent from what was happening. In October 2022, our Chicago group became part of the worldwide Voice of Free Russia movement.
HOW ARE WE ORGANIZED?
We are a horizontal association. We have no leaders in our community and all decisions are made collectively. We act according to the principle: I set a task and I undertake its implementation. To successfully complete our tasks, we combine our efforts with like-minded people. Our coordination of joint efforts is carried out in the Telegram chat.
